Solar Array Installed at SBS

Published at Solar Novus Today

ReVision Energy recently installed two ground-mounted solar arrays at Sant Bani School. The 55.1-kilowatt grid-tied system consists of 208 solar panels and will generate approximately 77,410 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, helping to reduce the school’s energy costs. Additionally, the clean energy produced annually by the arrays will offset approximately 82,364 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, or the emissions from 4,204 gallons of gasoline.

Sant Bani secured the project at no upfront cost through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with ReVision Energy. The arrangement allows Sant Bani to buy the power at a reduced rate, with a future option for the school to purchase the arrays from ReVision Energy at a significant discount, eventually allowing the school to produce solar electricity at no cost for decades to come.

PPAs are common arrangements in the solar industry. Over the years, ReVision Energy has arranged and installed more than 60 PPA projects for various schools, non-profits and municipalities.

“This is an exciting project for Sant Bani School,” said Maren McElwee Bicknell, Director of Finance & Operations. “It's about much more than long-term energy savings; it’s about demonstrating leadership in energy efficiency, sustainability and environmental stewardship to our students.” Students and teachers will have access to power generation data for class projects, and real-time information will be displayed on a monitor in the center of the school’s main building.
